Artificial intelligence (AI) will be the focus of the 2nd edition of the Irish-Portugal Business Network (IPBN) conference that will be held at the Guinness Enterprise Centre in Dublin (GEC) on Tuesday, June 17.

“For this year’s edition we wanted to highlight the key overlaps and opportunities that both countries share on AI in various sectors, making these sectors ideal for collaborative projects and partnerships,” said Arnold Delville, General Manager of the IPBN. (Pictured)

“My objective in preparing the conference was to show AI in a different perspective and make this conference very practical with concrete experiences and examples of IPBN members who have already introduced AI in their business with ROI and is part of their business development strategy.”

With Ireland’s robust tech ecosystem and Portugal’s competitive costs and talent, both nations are perfectly positioned to drive AI-driven innovation together.

“My objective in preparing the conference was to show AI in a different perspective and make this conference very practical with concrete experience and examples of IPBN members who have already introduced AI in their business with ROI and is part of their business development strategy.”

To achieve this, Arnold has assembled a lineup of leading experts and inspiring case studies from both countries. He shared a sneak peek, saying, “Our Executive Partner Martin Duffy, Head of GenAI from PwC Ireland, will share with the audience the results of the third survey PwC Ireland published in January about the Progress in AI and GenAI adoption in Ireland and how GenAI is transforming Irish workplaces.

Further, I am delighted to have IPBN member Lee Bristow, Author of Human AI Alliance, who has accepted my invitation to introduce the conference. Lee is advocating a Safe, Ethical, and Transparent AI.”

Beyond keynotes, the conference will feature IPBN members sharing real-life AI case studies across sectors such as Sustainability, Engineering, Data Analysis, Video Production, Customer Support, and more, providing the audience with a diverse and practical overview of AI applications.

As networking is at the heart of this event, there will be multiple opportunities to connect: A welcome coffee during registration, a 30-minute coffee break midway through the conference, and a light lunch at the GEC.

According to Arnold, “This allocated extended networking time is very important for the delegates present on that morning to forge new connections and partnerships between the two countries.”

And what can delegates expect? Why should they attend? “The conference will feature a series of practical case studies from different sectors, bridging the gap between theory and practice and showcasing how AI can transform your business,” he said.

Furthermore, attendees will also benefit from two captivating panel discussions: ‘Implementing a Robust AI Governance Management System’ and ‘Trends & Opportunities of Investment in AI Startups’.

According to Arnold, “These panels will explore pressing questions like, How can AI drive efficiency while ensuring transparency? Will AI enhance human capabilities or replace jobs? What are the ethical and competitive challenges of an AI-driven economy?

It will be a comprehensive introduction of transforming your business using AI for those thinking or starting their journey, providing valuable insights and essential information and contacts and the opportunity to learn from experts from both countries, who are already extensively using AI with ROI.”

Following the panel discussions, SME case studies will dive deep into building AI-literate teams, developing AI-powered features customers love, and crafting cohesive AI strategies for scalability.

Arnold concluded with heartfelt thanks, saying, “Finally, I would like to extend my thank you again to the Guinness Enterprise Centre and their Director Niamh Collins for hosting a second time and especially to all our sponsors: IPBN Executive Partner Ardanis, IPBN members VMotion IT Solutions and Daylight, and Vilamoura. Thanks to them, we were able to organise the conference. bThere will be time before the coffee break to hear from them.”

Acknowledgments also go to IPBN Executive Partners, Geoffrey Graham, Chair of the IPBN Board, and Board members, Enterprise Ireland representatives for Spain & Portugal, who will be there to answer any questions Irish companies might have when thinking of doing business with Portugal.

Don’t hesitate to talk to them during the coffee break and lunch and a special thank you to Sharon Dehmel, IPBN Board member, for her help in preparing the programme and to José Nunes, IPBN Media Production Executive Partner, for his presence at the conference, ensuring great photos and video content.

In conclusion, Arnold also revealed an exciting new partnership to be made official at the conference.

“I am really pleased to announce the signing of a special Partnership between the GEC and our partner in the Algarve, The Algarve Systems and Technology Partnership Association (Algarve STP).

Algarve STP drives investments in industry digitisation and fosters conditions for the digital industrial revolution. Joining the event will be Jessica Costa, Executive Director of Algarve STP Association & the UALG TEC CAMPUS, flying in especially from Faro.

“Following a fantastic experience last year, the GEC was the obvious choice for this year’s event. Arnold said, “Thank you to Niamh Collins, Director at the GEC, and her team for all their support in preparing the conference and welcoming us all there again”, concluded Arnold Delville,
