US technology company Bitsight slashes 54 jobs in Portugal and replaces them with AI
Boston-based tech firm Bitsight has undertaken a restructuring of its team in Portugal where it has its European base, replacing some of its operations in the cybersecurity area by an AI tool, resulting in the loss of 54 jobs according to news source ECO online.
The decision was taken at an international level from the company’s HQ in Boston and some of the team leaders did not know about the decision until an urgent meeting had been called in which the reasons were informed.
The company will integrate a modern AI-based system that will do the work of research analysts and other technicians.
The US multinational has been making “strategic adjustments to speed up its operations, including a reduction in operations that are having an impact in Portugal, but remains wholly committed to the country as its base in Europe for the Europe, Africa and Middle East market and as a key talent hub.”
“This decision was part of our ongoing efforts to drive operational efficiency and position the company for future growth. We are actively hiring for specialised functions in areas essential to our innovation and continued success,” Bitsight explained, without providing details on the positions in question.
