Hotel room bookings and the number of overnight stays at hotels and tourism accommodation increased in April like-for-like on 2024 by 8.5%, 9.2% and 12.6% respectively to €571.1 million thanks to a busy Easter period according to data released by Portugal’s National Statistics Institute (INE).
According to its rapid analysis ‘Tourism Activity’ for April, total tourism accommodation welcomed 2.9 million holiday makers (+8.5%) who enjoyed 7.1 million overnight stays (+9.2%).
For the period, €571.1 million was generated in total revenues (Hotels) and €436 million from overnight stays, an increase of 12.6% and 13.9% for booked rooms on the same period in 2024.
The INE says the April results were influenced by the Easter holiday period that this year fell in April, while in the previous year it was concentrated essentially in March.
