The Sino-Portuguese construction and engineering group Mota-Engil has completed the acquisition of the 50% it didn’t have in the Brazilian construction company Empresa Construtora Brasil (ECB) after having announced signing two contracts with Petrobras for around €490 million.

Carlos Mota Santos, Chairman and CEO of Mota-Engil told the news agency Lusa that the other 50% of ECB had been acquired by the company that has a large presence in Latin America and Africa.

ECB, which is based in the Brazilian State of Belo Horizonte, specialises in large-scale infrastructure projects.

According to the Mota-Engil boss, “the now finalised transaction means an investment boost in Brazil after the company bought a part of ECB in 2012 that resulted in the company’s growth in Brazil in that period, particularly in the oil and gas segment which Mota-Engil is keen to expand its activities in the future.
