Vanpro, a joint-venture between Faurecia and Adiente, is to close down leaving 475 people unemployed.

The company, which has been supplying Autoeuropa for decades, has not been chosen by the VW car manufacturer to supply car seats for the new hybrid Volkswagen T-Roc which should start rolling off the assembly line at the end of this year.

Vanpro’s Workers Commission told Jornal de Negócios that an agreement had been reached with the company’s administration for the collective dismissal of 450 workers “with a compensation package of 1.2 salaries for each year worked at a time when under the terms of the law compensation could be 0.4-0.6 salaries for each year worked depending on the length of service”.

To this compensation a bonus for good work attendance will also be added. Autoeuropa was Vanpro’s sole client since it was founded in 1994.

The company will close at the end of the year with the process of collective dismissals beginning from October.
