Portugal’s Power Invest, a Sotecnisol Group company specialising in renewable energy, has teamed up with China’s Trina Green Hydrogen to develop several green hydrogen production projects in Portugal.

The first of them will be at Castelo Branco with a €25 million investment to install 10MW of electrolyze capacity and a 25 MW solar park to produce 900 tonnes of the renewable gas.

The aim is that this volume should be injected into the H2Med European green hydrogen corridor that will link Portugal, Spain, France and Germany.

The first phase of the project is already underway, with feasibility studies and searches for strategic locations for the installation of production units. The two companies expect production to start by 2030, with ‘significant volumes of hydrogen to be channeled to H2Med’.

“Until then, there’s a lot of work to be done: we have to complete the engineering, financing, licensing and project construction phases, and carry out tests and matchmaking between our production and hydrogen consumers”, said Horácio Sabino, partner in Power Invest.
