Mário Campos appointed to lead Portugal’s inland revenue

Portugal’s inland revenue Tax and Customs Authority (Autoridade Tributária e Aduaneira (AT) has a new boss.

He is Mário Campus, an electronic and computer engineer by training who until now was the institutions Deputy Director-General of the Information Systems area at the Tax Authority, a position he held since March 2016.

In a statement, the Ministry of Finance emphasised that the new Director-General has “very relevant experience in the development and management of information systems, innovation management, digital transformation, process modernisation, information security, and technological interoperability, in both the public and private sectors.”

The new head of the Tax Authority was chosen following a competitive selection process conducted by the Public Administration Recruitment and Selection Commission (CReSAP). The appointment takes effect from August 1st for a period of five years.

Mário Campos will replace Helena Borges, who took office in January 2016.
