Wild card awarded to Alex de Minaur

The 29th edition of Estoril Open has been presented on Wednesday. The first wild card at the forthcoming 29th edition of the Estoril Open has been awarded to 17-year-old Alex de Minaur.

De Minaur, who broke through in January during the Australian swing, promises to be one of the event’s biggest draws which features Nick Kyrgios, Kevin Anderson, defending champion Pablo Carreno Busta and David Ferrer among others.

Tournament director João Zilhão says his hopes are pinned on Portuguese player João Sousa to win the title.

At a press conference at the end of March Zilhão said that the other three wild cards would be announced in the coming weeks. The Estoril Open takes place from 30 April to 6 May.
