Artist Joana Vasconcelos presents Gateway
Portuguese artist Joana Vasconcelos will be presenting her latest exhibition Gateway at Jupiter Artland gallery in Edinburgh, Scotland.
The exhibition, which takes place between May 12 and september 30, is part of a programme celebrating the 10th anniversary of Jupiter Artland’s 10th anniversary.
Vasconcelos, who was born in Paris in 1971 and grew up in Lisbon, will create a 9 metre long swimming pool installation for the collection, covered in hand-painted Portuguese tiles. The pool, which will be located in Bonnington House’s Italian Garden, will also have an additional structure she designed holding items from her personal collection of hand-made crochet sculptures.
The Portuguese artist became well-known after participating in the 2005 Venice Biennale where she presented the sculpture The Bride, comprised of 25,000 tampons
