Lisbon’s Sheraton Hotel & Spa has new Food and Beverage director

Lisbon’s landmark Sheraton Lisboa & Spa hotel has appointed Jerónimo Ferreira as its new Food and Beverage Manager.

With and extensive career in the gastronomy area, Jerónimo Ferreira has worked in various hotels and restaurants all over the world.

“‘The native returns home’ as the saying goes and I am extremely proud to accept this challenge for a group where I always felt at home and this time in my own country. Here I will have the opportunity to once again work with Portuguese cuisine which inspires me so much,” he says.

Born in 1965 in Avintes, Jerónimo dos Santos Ferreira completed various culinary courses in international institutions, such as the École LeNôtre, Paris, The Culinary Institute of America, New York and the F&B Academy in Barcelona.

He has also taken part in gastronomic congresses as speaker and has won several awards, coming First Place in Inter Magazine’s Chef of the Year ’92 competition and winning bronze and silver medals at the Culinary Olympics in Erfurt in Germany.

Starting his career at the Casa Branca Restaurant in Vila Nova de Gaia, he went on to the restaurant in Quinta do Lago in Almancil, Restaurant Billi, Porto, Hotel The Cliff Bay in Funchal, the Ritz Four Seasons Lisboa and the Sheraton Porto Hotel & Spa where he was executive chef.

He has also done stints at the Hotel Ritz in London, Sheraton Grand Rio Hotel & Resort and the Sheraton Grand Rio Hotel & Resort, Rio de Janeiro and the Sheraton Maria Isabel Hotel & Towers in Mexico City.
