FlixMobility startup coaches carry 430,000 passengers in Portugal

FlixBus, a fleet of coaches operated by startup Flixmobility carried around 430,000 passengers from Portugal in 2019.

The startup specialises in long-haul journeys with 20 direct lines to more than 50 European destinations.
The company, from German startup FlixMobility tripled the number of tourists and other travellers transported in 2018.
In Portugal FlixBus stops at 20 cities. “The Portuguese are travelling more with us and find in FlixBus a more sustainable and accessible alternative compared with other means of transport. In two and a half years we have managed to expand our international long-distance coach transport operation in Portugal which today reaches 50 destinations in Europe,” says Pablo Pastega, Managing Director of FlixBus in Portugal and Spain.
FlixBus recently signed a partnership with the Portuguese operator Bus Vouga, a family owned transport firm based in Aveiro and states that it will “increase its investment in the national market, with more partnerships to be announced this year and even a network dedicated to domestic routes”.
The FlixBus spokesperson for the Iberian Peninsula also added that this year the company would join forces with international carrier Eurolines and launch a domestic network that will cover Portugal from the North to the South, with new and comfortable coaches and offering on-board services.
