Portugal’s President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa will open a new five-star hotel on the island of Madeira on 27 March.
The luxury five-star Savoy Palace which was built from scratch comprises the hotel and a number of residences. The project is from the Madeira Group AFA owned by entrepreneur José Avelino Farinha with an architectural project by Saraiva + Associados and RH + Arquitectos with interior design by Madeira designer Nini Andrade e Silva.
The building has 17 floors, 309 rooms and 34 suites, with 14 pool suites and two presidential suites with their own pool, a 3000m2 spa, 6 swimming pools (including two infinity pools on the roof), 8 restaurants and bars and a 1000 person capacity conference hall.
The new hotel Savoy Palace opened its door to guests in July 2019 in a ‘soft opening’. The project was widely tipped to win the Portuguese Real Estate Oscars held last week but was pipped to the post by The ONE Palácio da Anunciada in Lisbon.
