CGD opens office in South Africa

The Portuguese state-owned bank Caixa Geral de Depósitos announced this week that it will open a representation office in South Africa.

The office in Johannesburg will have two staff and aims to ensure a link between the thousands of Caixa clients resident in South Africa and CGD in Portugal.
“Strengthening continuity and emphasising the bank’s important presence in South Africa over the past 24 years through a local bank, the office will have two staff and will secure the link between the thousands of Caixa clients who live in South Africa and CGD in Portugal,” stated a communiqué sent by the bank to Lusa.
The inauguration of the representation office will be officially opened on Monday by the Portuguese ambassador to South Africa, Manuel Carvalho, as well as other local authority figures and members of the Portuguese community.
The CGD representation office in South Africa will be in the same building as the Portuguese consulate on Avenida Ernest Oppenheimer in the suburb of Bruma.
CGD has other representation offices in several countries such as Germany (Berlin and weekly customer attendance in Cologne, Stuttgart, Frankfurt and Hamburg), Belgium (Brussels), Canada (Toronto), the United Kingdom (London), Switzerland (Geneva and commercial delegations in Zurich and Lausanne) and Venezuela (Caracas).
