Algarve hotel take-up 76.2% in August

Holiday room bookings in the Algarve stood at an average of 76.2%, 17.9% below 2019 bookings but 26.9% higher than the take-up rate registered in August 2020.

According to AHETA (Algarve Hotels Association) numbers , the national market increased 50.8% on 2020 but the overseas market was down 58.6%.
Regarding regions in the Algarve, take-up rates varied between -24.6% in Portimão/Praia da Rocha and -11% in Faro/Olhão.
The volume of sales from hotels fell 36.2% on 2019 but increased 10.7% on 2020.
In accumulated terms, the take-up rate per room suffered an average fall of -59.3% on the same period in 2019 and the sales turnover saw a fall of -58.8% on the same period in 2019.
