Algarve Easter hotel take-up to exceed 2019

Algarve hoteliers have high expectations from booking numbers that this Easter could enjoy higher tourist numbers than in 2019 .

This is according to the president of the AHETA (the main hotel association in the Algarve) Hélder Martins.
The online news agency Lusa reports Martins as saying: “advanced bookings, both for Easter and the summer, are above bookings seen in 2019 and prices are up, meaning we have not had to lower prices in order to attract tourists in”.
The AHETA president ruled out the “often stated” idea that the region is “packed” with tourists at this time of the year, emphasising “the Algarve is far from being full at Easter” and adds “we have a large accommodation capacity” for the period 15-17 April which can still be used.
“Our expected booking rates exceeds 2019, but we still have enough rooms to welcome those who want to come” said Hélder Martins, without giving concrete numbers on expected pre-bookings for Easter weekend at Algarve hotels and resorts.
Elected in January as the president of the AHETA (The Algarve Association of Hotels and Tourist Developments), replacing Elidérico Viegas who had been its president since it was founded in 1995, Hélder Martins stressed that the expectations in booking numbers were “across the board in relation to various categories”, and not just for five or three star hotels”.
