IPBN presents Tech seminar
Portugal has established its place among the big players as a tech haven for digital nomads and startup tech companies.
There is still a lot to be done on the part of the government regarding incubator programs set to expedite foundations and innovation, and further work still to establish a standard for business within the sector.
That’s why the Ireland Portugal Business Network (IPBN) invites you to join their upcoming Tech Seminar presented by the IPBN Algarve Committee in Albufeira on Thursday, September 22 from 9h30 to 13h at Xerem Fusion Cuisine.
According to this article on the Portuguese government’s efforts to boost the local startup environment in Essential Business, “StartUp Portugal has €125 million of Recovery & Resilience Programme funding earmarked for the startups and entrepreneurial ecosystem and plans to open applications this year”. António Dias Martins, the Director of Startup Portugal told ECO: “We want to increase startup numbers in Portugal and create the right conditions so that entrepreneurs feel that Portugal is a good place with all the right conditions to start up a business.
The focus of the upcoming seminar will be on how the Algarve region is positioning itself to attract digital nomads as well as full-time residents in the sector. Local leaders and IPBN members will discuss how technology is affecting business in the short and long term with added expertise from 2021 Portuguese Tech Award Winner 2021, IPBN member and founder of C-MORE Beyond the Obvious Carolina Almeida Cruz, who will speak on “Social & Environmental Impact in Tech” followed by a four-person panel discussion on “Algarve: Europe’s Silicon Valley” moderated by Carolyn McKeown, Director at Shebang Events & PR Management with Edgard Marcondes, co-founder of Invest Portugal and Joana Glória, founder of Lagos Digital Nomads.
A second panel, moderated by IPBN member and Director of Global Operations for MadeIn Web e Mobile, Carlos Justino, will follow with Jody Temple White, Strategic Advisor and Citizen Developer, IPBN Board member and software engineer Mario Gago of Pink Room, and Victor Levy, an expert in Blockchain Technology.
