A Coimbra-based startup that has developed a platform that used AI to help creators in the editing and post-production of video casts and podcasts is setting its sights firmly on both the US market, which already represents 60% of its current users, and the UK (10%).

Framedrop is an AI tool that automatically finds the best moments in YouTube and Twitch content and turns it into short-form videos.
At the moment we don’t have plans to open an office or have a representation in any other market. Our internationalisation strategy is focused on getting closer to the US and UK markets and we have made various “field trips” in both and firming up relations with potential clients in these countries which have a strong link to our target public”, Mário Tarouca, COO of Framedrop.ai to the online daily ECO.
The company’s founders are to visit the US, including Hollywood, and the UK at the end of April and May where they will be at events like Startup Grind Global (Silicon Valley, US) and The Podcast Show (London, UK) — one of the larges events in the podcast sector globally.
“We will make the most of these opportunities to see with various contacts potential clients and investors”, says co-founder Mário Tarouca who started the company with João Diogo Costa in Coimbra in 2023.
That ambition for growth was fuelled by a pre-seed investor round in November 2022 that raised €1.1 million from Indico, Shilling, Banco Português de Fomento, Clever Advertising and Subvisual and the US VC Accel.
For the time being the startup has a very strong B2C portfolio of clients in content creation, but it plans to reach its B2B target, specifically media and podcast agencies and groups.
