Best property developments in Portugal distinguished at Portuguese Real Estate ‘Oscars’

The winners of the Portuguese Real Estate Awards 2024 in several categories were unveiled on Thursday night at a gala dinner in Sintra with 230 invited guests.

A lower-key affair this year compared to previous years which were big on animation and entertainments, the Portuguese Real Estate Awards 2024 organised by Magazine Imobiliário celebrates and recognises the best that Portugal has to offer in terms of innovative and sustainable developments each year in four main categories: Offices, Tourism, Collective Developments and Housing.

The overwhelming majority of the independent jury agreed that the Best Development of the Year 2024 was the primary school and kindergarten Escola Básica nº1 + Jardim Infantil Arquiteto Gonçalo Ribeiro Telles developed by Lisbon Municipal Council urban rehabilitation company Empresa Municipal Lisboa Ocidental SRU – Sociedade de Reabilitação Urbana.

Located in the city’s Boavista neighbourhood, the project also received an award in the Collective Developments category. The school offers educational support to the local community in addition to being an inclusive and environmentally responsible space.

K-Tower Lisbon Business Centre from Krest Real Estate Investments triumphed in the Offices category while in the Tourism category the award was given to Verdelago Resort from developer Verdelago Sociedade Imobiliária.

In the Housing category, which had a lot of entrants with 22 finalists, Antas Atrium from Quest Capital took the prize.

Magazine Imobiliário handed out four awards in four new Housing categories according to geographical location. The winners were: Housing Award North – River Plaza from developer Teixeira Duarte Real Estate; Housing Award Centre – Miraflores Park from SOLYD Property Developers; Housing Award South – Bayline from Vanguard Properties; and Housing Award Islands went to Savoy Residence|Insular from developer Savoy Signature/AFA Real Estate.

The Interiors Project Award was taken by the Legacy Hotel by Hilton from developer Reformosa, with a interiors project by the architect Luís Rebelo de Andrade.

The Rehabilitation Award fell to the development Rodrigo da Fonseca Prime Residences from developer Mexto Property Investment. This award attracted a total of 22 nominees, and so nine distinctions were awarded: Rehabilitation Award North went to Grande Hotel Paris from developer Just Say Hotels; Rehabilitation Award Centre which was netted by Duke Residences Saldanha from developer Pujolinvest; and the Rehabilitation Award Islands which was bagged by Barceló Funchal Old Town from developer Emeraldtown – Empreendimentos Imobiliários e Turísticos.

The Excellency in Efficiency and Sustainability awarded in partnership with ADENE – Agency for Energy not only included the number of developments in the competition, but also revealed a greater concern from developers for buildings that were energy efficient and environmentally friendly. The winner was K-Tower Lisbon Business Centre from the developer Krest Real Estate Investments.

The awards were sponsored by Victoria Seguros and the Official Bank Partner Santander. Other sponsors were Savills, ERA Portugal, Grohe, AEG, JUNG, and Avila Spaces, while the cocktail party was sponsored by LG Portugal.

Institutional support was provided by ADENE – Agency for Energy, the Portuguese Association of Developers and Real Estate Investors (APPII), The Portuguese Aluminium Association (APAL), the Association of Estate Agencies and Estate Agent Professionals – APEMIP, the Lisbon Association of Landlords (ALP), and the Portuguese Association of Residential Tourism and Resorts.

The official online estate agency was Supercasa while audiovisual and media communications support was provided by Tecnovisão and Green Media respectively, while Diário Imobiliário was the official media partner.
