The exports of Portuguese small and medium-sized companies on Amazon surpassed the threshold of 130 million euros for the first time last year. The figure implies a growth of more than 25% in sales of Portuguese SMEs to other countries via this platform, compared to 2022, according to data from the multinational.

The 2023 figures were reflected by Amazon’s leader in Portugal, Inês Ruvina, with the trend continuing: “2024 has been a great year for Portuguese SMEs selling on Amazon,” she predicts, noting that there are already more than a thousand. The most exported goods “were products for the home, beauty products, health and personal care, and kitchen and office items”.

Specifically, the €130 million of exports relate to sales outside Portugal, so it does not include sales to Portuguese customers, which the company refused to disclose. In detail, these SMEs “recorded more than €100 million in export sales in the European Union and more than €20 million in export sales outside the European Union,” according to the manager.

France, Spain, Germany, Italy and the USA are the countries where the main foreign customers of national SMEs are on the platform, according to Amazon.
