El Corte Inglés Portugal profits up 33% to €48 million for 2024-2025
The department store retailer El Corte Inglés in Portugal netted a record turnover of €622 million for the tax year 2024-2025,, up 3.9% on the like-for-like period, with profits increasing by 33% to €48 million.
In a statement, El Corte Inglés reported that the 2024-2025 financial year that ended in February 2025 saw a profit of €512 million for the period, 6.7% more than in the previous year, and a turnover of €16,675 million.
El Corte Inglés adds that the gross operating result – EBITDA – reached €64 million euros, 7.5% more than in the previous year, while the group’s consolidated result rose 11.9% to €1,209 million.
In a note, the Spanish group also says that it “got positive results across all business areas” and that the “positive performance of the group’s companies, including ECIGA (the Portuguese company responsible for two department stores, six supermarkets and one outlet) corresponds to improvements in management efficiency, client services, and continued innovation and product quality”.
“The retail business continues to be the group’s main source of revenue with €12,976 million” and “here, the strong positioning of the fashion and beauty areas stands out, which registered an increase of 4.9%,” the group indicates.
Regarding the online business, the group states that it “continues to grow, with more than 891 million visits to the group’s websites and apps.
