TMG Automotive to open factory in North Carolina
TMG Automotive, a Portuguese textile company that makes car seat and interior upholstery, is investing €43 million on a factory in Bostic, North Carolina, US, creating 125 jobs.
Headquartered in Famalicão, it has two factories in Portugal and one in Ningbo, China – the latter in partnership with the US Haartz Corporation where the partnership will now extend to this latest venture in the US.
The new factory, which will be installed in the former Milliken Golden Valley factory, will have an area of 27,700 square metres to produce synthetic materials for seat covers, instrument panels, door supports and gear stick bellows.
TMG and Haartz Solutions have a strategy to meet the needs of global car manufacturers like BMW – which has a factory in South Carolina -, Mercedes, Volvo, GM, Toyota and Ford.
“The choice of the State of North Carolina as the location for this new factory reflects a careful evaluation of the conditions necessary to support sustainable growth, ensure operational efficiency, while being close to key markets”, said the CEO of TMG Automotive, José António Teixeira.
