Lisbon Investment Summit starts

Entrepreneurs and investors are expected to pour into Lisbon this week for the annual Lisbon Investment Summit.

Running on 6 and 7 June, 200 investors, start-ups and entrepreneurs will be at the event organised by Beta-i.

At a time when getting accelerator finance from bank is difficult, the conference will address alternative ways of financing from venture capital and crowd funding to investment from funds and business angels.

The event is being held at the Beato Creative Hub – a 35,000m2 start-up project in eastern Lisbon in a former army factory complex which features 20 buildings currently being refurbished to house Portuguese and international startups in the areas of technology, innovation, and creative industries.

“We represent the informal and somewhat unexpected European startups conference say the Portuguese organisers.

Under the hashtag #nobullshit, the Lisbon Investment Summit brings together seasoned investors, daring entrepreneurs and innovative executives for a 2-day casual, sunny and action-packed event this week and say their hashtag motto “pretty much sums up what you can expect from us.”

In 2017 it hosted 750 startups, 200 investors, 400 corporates and over 100 speakers from over 50 countries.

The idea is for startups to take their ideas and businesses to the next level by showcasing their talents to top-tier investors and world-leading companies.

This year’s speakers include Alexandre Flamant, investor at Norton Capital, Alexandre Santos, CIO at Sonae IM, Ana Casaca, Head of Innovation at José de Mello, Andrew Scott, Founding Partner at 7percent Ventures, António Miguel, Director at Maze Impact, Arabia Smiti, CEO of Carnet de Mode and Ashley Carroll partner at Social Capital among others.
