Held at the Estoril Congress Centre, the three-day event taking place from June 20-22 will give delegates the chance to hear from top minds, network with fellow wine professionals, exchange knowledge and ideas, and help define the industry’s future.

“This event is a first. The first time internationally that a wine summit has ever been held with these unique characteristics: bringing together top world experts, specialists, producers, academics and writers from all areas of the international wine business at one event,” says organiser Paulo Salvador, a well-known TV anchor in Portugal and author of cookbook ‘Mesa Nacional’ (National Table).

This year’s summit includes Robert Joseph, International Wine Challenge (IWC) founder and author, Willi Klinger, Managing Director of the Austrian Wine Marketing Board, Maureen Downey, counterfeit wine authority, and Mariette du Toit-Helmbold, marketing and wine tourism leader.

According to figures from the Portuguese Institute of Wine & Vineyards (IVV), wine sales from Portugal rose 10% in 2017 while production volume exceeded 6.6 million hectolitres with the Douro and Dão regions leading the increase. The Alentejo, however, is now being overtaken by the Lisbon region.

Wine production was worth €732 million in 2017 compared to €727 million in 2015 and is expected to enjoy revenues worth €744 million this year.
