Johnson & Johnson invests €5.5 million in new Portugal headquarters

Johnson & Johnson Portugal has invested €5.5 million in a new headquarters in Lagoas Park in an investment worth €5.5 million.

The new premises officially inaugurated on 10 September at Lagoas Park – a business park on the outskirts of Oeiras – also includes a new clinical trials unit.

“Johnson & Johnson as a group and the largest health care products company in the world, is clearly increasing its investment and presence in Portugal. We want to continue to grow which is why we need this new premises” says Filipa Mota e Costa, Managing Director of Janssen  Portugal, the pharmaceutical company which is part of Johnson & Johnson.

According to Filipa Mota e Costa, the company decided to move from its previous premises in Queluz de Baixo to the new building because the old building didn’t have the “room to grow”.

“The company also need to move because the premises needed to be more modern with all the latest technology and offering “a concept of flexibility in the workplace” and better working conditions for staff.”

“The entire concept of the premises takes into account the wellbeing and health of the staff, as well as environmental considerations such as saving water and energy.”

All told, Johnson & Johnson employs 400 staff countrywide (both at Oeiras and in Porto) of which 90% have higher education (a degree, MA or more) says Filipa Mota e Costa.

In the last two years alone, the group created 60 jobs, with 21 new staff joining the company this year.

Johnson & Johnson Portugal has three main activity areas: pharmaceutics (Janssen) which has placed 80 new medicines on the market), consumer products and medical devices.
