Fourth Portuguese Tourism Summit to focus on new Lisbon airport

The urgency for a new international airport for Lisbon will top the agenda at this year’s Portuguese Tourism Summit on 27 September.

The Fourth Portuguese Tourism Summit will be organised by the Portuguese Tourism Confederation (CTP) on the same day as World Tourism Day and will include a line up of important speakers such as

The headline themes at this year’s summit will be “Tourism First: The Successes of the Present and Challenges of Tomorrow” with a special panel to debate the “New Lisbon International Airport,” “Managing Tourism Destinations” and the “Value of the Portugal Brand.

A debate on “The Urgency for a New Lisbon International Airport” will include speakers such as the presidents of ANA, NAV, TAP and ANAC as well as the Project Coordinator for the Lisbon Airport Expansion Plan.

The opening session will include presentations from the Prime Minister, António Costa, the Mayor of Lisbon City Council, Fernando Medina and the President of the CTP, Francisco Calheiros as well as European Commissioner Carlos Moedas.

The morning session will include a presentation by Ana Mendes Godinho while there will also be speeches by Tim Fairhurst, Director of Policy at the European Tourism Association, Christian Gsodham, Advisor to the EU Council President and moderation from Portuguese Euro MP Cláudia Monteiro de Aguiar.

Other speakers will include the President of Turismo de Portugal, Luís Araújo, the CEO of Lloyds Bank, António Horta Osório, CEOs of press organisations such as Nicolau Santos (Lusa), Ricardo Costa (Grupo Imprensa), Rosália Amorim (Dinheiro Vivo) and Begoña Iñiguez, President of the Foreign Press Association in Portugal.
