The first edition of a conference analysing the residential tourism sector in the Algarve and its sustainability in the long and medium terms was a “great success” according to its organisers.

The Algarve Residential Tourism Conference, organised by tourist development consultant Andrew Coutts, CEO of ILM Tourism and Hospitality Real Estate Group Portugal and the Dengun Digital Group was held at the Anantara Algarve Resort on Friday 23 November and plans are to organise a second conference next year according to Dengun’s Jorge Cabaço.

“The event had a fantastic attendance with 160 attendees and representatives from real estate developers, investors and market professionals. There was lots of interest, information and inspiration, and above all innovative advertising that has encouraged us to think about organising subsequent editions — not just in this conference format, but also in others that we are now preparing to bring to a wider audience in sector” says Dengun’s marketing director.

“We’re jointly working to show the Algarve is a place in which to live, work and invest; a place where we can all grow together” he added.

Cabaço says that the feeling from the conference is that the sector wants to work on sustainable projects that last and that the market wants. In other words, developments that respect the environment and provide authentic experiences.

Andrew Coutts, CEO of ILM says, “It went really well and we had both volume and quality in terms of audience and people for what was a regional conference. Many from outside the Algarve and the traditional sector understood the excellent opportunities our market has for attracting investors from outside Portugal.”

“It was an intense programme in terms of time schedule but it was enjoyable, entertaining and educational and the fact that around 80 people stayed on afterwards to discuss these opportunities was positive in itself” he adds.
