What next for the Algarve?

A short seminar on connectivity and tourism development in the Algarve will be held at the Pestana Vila Sol in Vilamoura on 31 January.

The business breakfast “What Next for the Algarve” featuring guest speaker Gavin Eccles, is organised by the Portuguese Resorts Association (Associação Portuguesa de Resorts) and the National Council for the Portuguese Golf Industry (Conselho Nacional da Indústria do Golfe).

The event aims to canvas views and opinions of maintaining the Algarve region’s preeminence as a top European tourism destination and strive for successful development.

Years of growth from the key markets of UK and Germany are presently being questioned with the concerns over Brexit and the resurgence of the East Mediterranean and North African destinations.

And with the bankruptcies of Monarch Airlines and the Air Berlin Group, some are asking what is next for the Algarve?

This event will review the past successes of air connectivity to the region and highlight the potential future opportunities as the aviation industry continues to adapt and change.

The realities of new aviation development and the potential to attract carriers will be explored, and opportunities will be identified to build on the past to put forward a development plan that puts connectivity at the forefront of the region’s strive to build successes for tourism and residential components alike.

Gavin Eccles has extensive experience in developing effective business strategies and works alongside Marketing and Strategy Managers to shape their approach. This work has been conducted in international clients as diverse as Sony, PwC, American Airlines, Marks & Spencer, Shell and Marriott Hotels.
