Unbabel voted 3rd best ‘Scaleup’ in Europe

The Portuguese machine assisted language translation company Unbabel has been voted the 3rd best ‘Scaleup’ in Europe by Tech 5.

The Tech 5 awards are organised by The Next Web (TNW) and Ayden. This year the awards were handed out at a ceremony which took place in Amsterdam where Unbabel was voted the 3rd best Startup and Scaleup in Europe and the best in Portugal.
Tech 5 highlights the youngest rapid growth scaleups and startups in all European countries and Israel based on performance, growth and potential.
The criteria include investment rounds, team growth, media coverage and social impact with Unbabel achieving third place on the podium in the competition.
At the event, Vasco Pedro CEO and co-managing partner said that making the podium in the competition was the result of a vision that is worked on a daily basis by a team of over 200 people.
“We are at an exciting time in translation technology and automatic translation in particular and we are extremely pleased to see such recognition from entities as important as TNW and Ayden,” he said.
The CEO added that: “Through new neural technology assisted by a human translation layer we are tearing down linguistic barriers and allowing our clients to offer better than ever levels of customer service.”
