The London-based Fintech company Revolut is to expand in the Portuguese market by taking on 400 staff.

The company has decided to construct a brand new office in Portugal at Matosinhos which will be its second largest office in Europe.
According to KPMG, the amount of investment in Fintechs has soared in Europe since 2013 from €3.6Bn to €34.2Bn in 2018.
For the Matosinhos unit, the company will hire a team to manage customer relations, complaints, transfer investigation, compliance and financial crime.
For now, the Fintech has 34 immediate vacancies, many requiring candidates that speak different languages such as Czech, Bulgarian, German, Japanese, Spanish, Romanian and Greek.
“All of the new staff will be integrated into a global team that shares a series of matrix with many able to work in an independent manner.
“We have developed using space and responsibility to resolve problems and work better without a lot of red tape. We don’t hide behind snobby titles or fussy processes that are justified with the response “well, we do it that way because that’s always how it’s been done,” says Nikolay Storonsky, co-founder and CEO of Revolut.
“Portugal is rapidly emerging as a Fintech hub in Europe and we are extremely proud to be part of this movement by creating 400 new jobs. Last year at Web Summit it was very clear to me that Portugal has entirely embraced the benefits that financial technology has to offer,” he added.
