Comporta Perfume bottles to be designed by Vista Alegre

A made-in-Portugal perfume range inspired by the sights and scents of the country’s Alentejo coast has had its bottles redesigned by Vista Alegre.

Formed two years ago, Comporta Perfumes aims to conjure the luxury lifestyle of Portugal’s very own ‘Hamptons’ which has been attracting droves of wealthy US and French visitors and potential buyers to a new project for a luxury rural residential community.
The founder of the perfume brand, Pedro Simões, says he aims to position the brand as a luxury one in line with international trends.
“There are very few brands aimed at the luxury market in Portugal and Comporta as a region will become the most relevant Portuguese brand internationally. Of course we already have some important wines, we have Vista Alegre, some architects and real estate brands which are benchmarks,” he says.
“But, in terms of fame and expression for this segment, it will not be the Douro, the Alentejo or Lisbon, neither a chef or brand of wines. In the luxury market in terms of world references we have Farfetch (which we can’t really call a Portuguese brand) and we will have Comporta and its purchase by the Berda/Amorim consortium will consolidate and accelerate this perception and process,” says the founder.
The latest investment by the perfumer involves a partnership with Vista Alegre which created and produced an exclusive bottle, working for several months alongside the brand’s design team headed by designer Hugo Amado.
According to Pedro Simões Dias, “There are few perfume brands which have managed to create a bottle which in itself represents the values of the actual brand” which reflects research carried out in the area of Comporta, its characteristics and lifestyle and reed fences which the locals make to protect themselves against the beach winds,” adds Hugo Amado, Senior Designer Crystal & Glass at Vista Alegre.
