The effect of Brexit will be one of the main topics debated at the Portugal Property Fair in Lisbon which runs from 10-13 October

The Brexit effect on Portugal’s residential tourism industry will come under the spotlight at this month’s Portugal Property Fair in Lisbon.
Another highlight will be a ‘Ladies in Property’ workshop which will discuss the impact that women have on the ­sector at a national level.
“This year, two large conferences will dominate the event,” says Sandra Fragoso, Director of SIL which is the largest and most important real estate trade fair in the country.”
The first, ‘SIL Investmentpro powe­red by APPII’ will take place on 10 ­October under the themes ‘The Real ­Estate Market within the International Economic Context,’ the second, “The Greatest Challenges for International ­Investors” and ‘New Forms of Tourism’.
Among the speakers will be Nelson Rego, Managing Partner, Prime Yield, Gloval Group; Francisco Sottomayor, CGD Real Estate Director; Ricardo Sousa, CEO of Century 21; Claude Kandiyoti, CEO of Krestlis Real Estate Investments; Luís Gamboa, VIC Properties; Filipa Abreu Teixeira, Vanguard Properties; José Roquette of the Pestana Group; António Quintão of Feels Like Home and João Fernandes of Turismo do Algarve.
The closing session for the event will feature a speech by Pedro Siza Vieira, Minister of the Economy.
On 11 September the conference ‘Brexit: what is the impact for Residential Tourism’. The debate will discuss how Brexit could affect Residential Tourism, its overall impact on the pro­perty market and how to continue ­attracting international investors. This conference will ­involve António Ramalho, President of Novo Banco; Bernardo Trindade, President of the Executive Committee of ­Portugal In; João Fernandes, President of the Algarve Region Tourism (RTA), Reinaldo Teixeira, Vice President of APEMIP; Rui Meneses Ferreira, President of the Portuguese Resorts Association and Tiago Caiado Guerreiro, Partner of Caiado Guerreiro Advogados.

Caldas da Rainha in focus at SIL 2019
Portugal’s Silver Coast town of ­Caldas da Rainha has been chosen as this year’s “showcase city” for the 2019 edition of the Portugal Real Estate Fair ‘Salão Imobiliário de Portugal – SIL’.
The honour means that the city will have pride-of-place at the fair with a large stand where the local authority, ­developers, architects and entrepreneurs will get the chance to showcase the best developments currently underway in the city.
Caldas da Rainha is one hour’s drive from Lisbon and is famous for its nearby golden sandy beaches and resort if Foz do Arelho. In recent years it has attrac­ted many overseas investors, particularly from France who have bought homes in the city and surrounding area.
The local council in Caldas da Rainha has developed strategies to make the most of its historic heritage, creating incentives for urban rehabilitation and property rennovation in a policy that is also linked to its public development projects which have enabled it promote and develop areas that are key for private investment, namely in the Historic Centre of town.
Caldas da Rainha is famous as a health spa town with a tradition of ­ceramics, arts and health clinics specia­lising in skin and mobility conditions thanks to its alternative hydro-therapies.
The Mayor of Caldas Town Council, Fernando Ferreira says that the town has all the right characteristics in terms of tradition, heritage and road access infrastructure, not to mention its relative proximity to Lisbon, to make it an excellent location for real estate investments.
