Golden Visas net €601.5 million this year

Investment attracted from Portugal’s Golden Visa scheme rose 29.7% in September in like-for-like terms to €48.5 million according to the borders and immigration agency SEF (Serviço de Estrangeiros e Fronteiras.

In September, the total investment from ARIs (Authorisations of Residency for Investment Activity stood at €48,450,021, an increase of 29.7% on the same month in 2018 (€37 million).
However, August had been a better month, when the Government succeeded in attracting €82.5 million.
Of all Golden Visa investment attracted in September, 41 million came from property purchases and the remaining €7.4 million came from capital transfers.
From the total number of visas issued from property investment, 23 were as a result of purchasing property for urban rehabilitation purposes.
In the first nine months of the year, investment totals €601.5 million, 1% more than the previous year.
In almost seven years the Golden Visa programme which was launched in October 2012, has netted a total of €4.8Bn, most of which was through property purchases.
