Sotecnisol Power & Water is to construct one of the largest solar carparks in Portugal.

The solar park will be installed at CNEMA – Centro Nacional de Exposições e Mercados Agrícolas in Santarém and will provide covered parking for around 360 vehicles beneath the panels.
The project will permit CNEMA to obtain a neutral energy balance thereby making the company sustainable from an energy point of view.
Solar carparks are solar panels mounted above car parking spaces and offer a flexible and cost-effective way to install solar power as they do not require any extra space. Thanks to their efficient use of space, reduced energy costs and environmental benefits they have already proved a popular choice in the United States for several years.
Now in Portugal, the solar park will have an installed power of 816.2 kWp from 2,698 panels laid over a 7000 m2 area and will have the annual energy production capacity of 1,260,000 kWh which is the equivalent power needed to service around 380 homes.
Once up and running, the solar park will be monitored around the clock by the SynaptiQ System from 3E which will record and collate all data to the company’s operations team enabling them to provide an even energy supply by taking preventative and correctional actions to avoid energy falloffs whenever necessary.
Filipe Bello Morais, CEO of Sotecnisol Power & Water states, “This project is for us an important milestone in our activity given that it is one of the largest solar parks installed on a carpark in Portugal.”
