Altice snaps up 51% of Blue-ticket

Portugal’s largest telecoms service provider Altice has bought a majority stake in Blueticket, one of the largest ticketing platforms in the country, from Arena Atlântico owned by Luís Montez.

The move comes after Alexandre Fonseca had already promised that Altice (formerly Portugal Telecom) would forge into new business areas.
The acquisition was announced by the company in an internal communiqué to staff. As well as being one of the largest ticketing operations in Portugal, Blueticket is also a systems platform in its ow right.
According to the communiqué, the CEO of Altice Portugal, Alexandre Fonseca, said, “It is through operations of this nature that I am convinced that we will be able to rise to the challenge of providing a better experience to our customers, one that is easier and more accessible while, at the same time, achieving Altice Portugal investment in the Portuguese market.”
The ticket price on the deal has not been revealed by either parties but Alexandre Fonseca recalled the “partnerships with the two largest entertainments venues in the country – Altice Arena and Altice Fórum Braga – but also the various activities linked to music,” such as MEO Sudoeste and MEO Marés Vivas and entertainment, sport and culture,” areas where ticketing has a central role.
