The Portuguese Association of Real Estate Developers and Investors is to hold an online conference tomorrow to debate the challenges and impact of the coronavirus on the real estate market.

The conference will take place on 17 March (tomorrow) at 3.30pm and is organised together with Vida Imobiliária. All those interested in taking part should register via the link: https://iberinmo.com/event/o-impacto-do-covid-19-no-mercado-imobiliario
The panel of speakers will include José Cardoso Botelho, Managing Director of Vanguard Properties, Hugo Santos Ferreira, Vice-President of the APPII, Pedro Vicente, Board Member of Habitat Invest, Ricardo Sousa, CEO of Century 21, José Araújo, Director of Real Estate and Specialised Credit at Millennium BCP and António Gil Machado, Director of Vida Imobiliária.
Hugo Santos Ferreira of the APPII told Idealista News that the sector does not yet have specific and measurable data on the effect of coronavirus on the market, but said that one thing was certain: the effect was being felt from the cancellation of all meetings, events and conferences with many companies opting for working with conference calls.
“We ourselves at the APPII, for the common good and to make an effort in the international containment of this virus, have cancelled all face-to-face meetings for 15 days and have asked our staff to work from home, to avoid using public transport and leaving home unnecessarily. Therefore, the effect of some paralysis of the sector and the wider economy in terms of actual face-to-face contacts is already happening,” he said.
