Work begins on Meliã Lisboa

Work has begun on the new Meliã Lisboa hotel, the first 5-star unit from the Spanish hotel chain in Portugal.

The hotel will be located on the intersection between Avenida António Aguiar and Avenida Fontes Pereira de Melo next to Marquês de Pombal.
The hotel will have 240 rooms, a 24-hour restaurant, lounge-bar on the roof boasting panoramic views over the city, meeting rooms and a congress centre with a capacity for 550 people.
The hotel is being marketed in the so-called ‘bleisure’ segment (business and leisure) and as such, in addition the state-of-the-art business facilities, will also feature a spa and wellness centre.
The project’s building management will be undertaken by Engexpor which has been involved in the early phases and conception of the hotel project.
The contact was awarded by the Discovery Portugal Real Estate Fund supported by Explorer Investments which, though a partnership with Meliã Hotels International will develop the hotel project.
The total construction area is 22,220m2 spread over 14 floors above ground and 6 floors below. Work is expected to be completed bu the second half of 2022.
