Vilamoura Boat Show Golf Trophy

The Vilamoura Boat Show Golf Trophy will be held on 5 June as a side-show to the Vilamoura International Boat Show which takes place in the resort between 5-13 June.

The golf competition will take place at the Dom Pedro Old Course. The tournament, in the Stableford modality, expects around 80 players and prizes will be awarded to the winners in the different categories.
There will be trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd, (1 Gross) and Longest Drive (Ladies and Men Special Trophies) and also a Nearest to the Pin Trophy. Access to the driving range, green fees and course buggies and bar is included in this tournament.
The competition will also have a Golf Clinic for those who don’t know how to play golf, or just want to improve their game. The day’s event will be rounded off with the Putt Competition.
The idea, as the hotel Dom Pedro Vilamoura states, arose because marine leisure sports and golf “go together” in the Algarve.
“The Vilamoura Boat Show has, for many years, been recognised as a high-visibility event which aims to promote Vilamoura alongside sophisticated sport and leisure tourism and residential living segments and leisure activities which have characteristics that fit in with golf.”
“So, we came up with the idea of organising this trophy that aims to put two products together that Vilamoura really is Nº1 at in Portugal and Europe: Marine sports and leisure and Golf.”
This idea is backed up by the organisation: “The Vilamoura Marina International Boat Show is, for us, an opportunity to leverage tourism in the Algarve, contributing towards boosting the visibility of the region, economic activity and tourism in the Algarve,” says events manager Paulo Jorge.
Yachting, boating and golf are complementary, which is why we have organised this side event and we think the Vilamoura Boat Show Golf Trophy fits in with the event’s theme and brings added content and entertainment to the Vilamoura Boat Show,” he adds.
The organisers of the Vilamoura Boat Show and Hotel Dom Pedro Vilamoura believe that such events are particularly important for the Algarve’s economy in periods of the year which are off peak season, like June.
The Hotel Dom Pedro Vilamoura states “Events like VBS and the Golf Tournament will give visibility and publicity to the destination and be exciting for tourists who have chosen the Algarve in which to spend their holidays”.
