House rents fall 17.9%
Rental charges for houses in Lisbon fell nearly 18% below pre-Covid levels by the end of Q3 this year according to the latest results from Residential Rents Index compiled by Confidencial Imobiliário.
Nevertheless, this result was higher than the previous two quarters when rents in the capital fell 19.9% relative to the pre-pandemic period. Despite the figure continuing to represent a serious deflation, Q3 was the first time that the fall in rental charges charged on new rental contracts had improved since the pre-Covid period in 2019.
Swiss Chamber at Web Summit
The Swiss Chamber of Commerce in Portugal (CCISP) will be present at the Web Summit 2021 with a special event #Swisstech Night on 2 November, 2021 from 7pm to 11pm. It will involve a meeting of its community of startups with entertainment and the participation of official institutions, mainly from Switzerland and Portugal. Other joint activities during the Web Summit are: on 3 November at 3pm. There will be a reception organised by InvestLisboa at the Lisbon City stand. On 4 November between 9am and 2pm ‘It is not only about Tech it is also about Soul’ Visit from Quinta da Chocapalha, a Portuguese-Swiss wine producer.
AEP explores Asian markets
The Portuguese Enterprise Association (AEP) has launched studies this week on the prospects for Portuguese SMEs to expand to Asia.
The market studies ‘Next Challenge Asia’ developed by the AEP form part of an exploration into the main opportunities and constraints in the Japanese, South Korean and Chinese markets. The studies will be presented on the 28 October at an event involving international speakers. The three international speakers with experience in the three markets are Hello Ciffoni, founder and director of Sapiens Global, Japan; Jay Seugkyu, Business Consultant & Agent, South Korea and Annabel Kong, founder and director of Aigory Investments Ltd, China. The presentations will take place at the Nerelei premises in Leiria on 28 October.
Vice-Admiral Henrique Gouveia e Melo at the ICPT
Vice-Admiral Henrique Gouveia e Melo will be the guest speaker tomorrow (28 October) at the International Club of Portugal from 12 noon at the Hotel Sheraton Lisboa Hotel & Spa at Rua Latinho Coelho Nº1, Lisbon (Saldanha). Seen as a national hero, he will talk about his leadership of Portugal’s successful vaccination campaign which brought infection numbers down to the lowest in Europe and reduced hospitalisations and deaths. www.icpt.pt
AEP Golf Business Cup
The AEP Golf Business Cup returns this year to the greens after being cancelled in 2020 because of the Covid-19 pandemic. The second circuit will take place on 20 November at the Royal Óbidos Spa & Golf Resort in Óbidos. The tournament is restricted to Companies, Business Associations, and Chambers of Commerce with 40 companies taking part, each one forming a two-player team. https://golf.aeportugal.pt/
