The Portuguese energy company SunEnergy is to expand its operation to the Spanish market this year.

According to Dinheiro Vivo, SunEnergy’s president Raul Santos said that that Coimbra-based renewables energy company “had its sights on internationalisation into the Spanish market.
“It is expected that SunEnergy can now enter the Spanish market in 2022 and that is our goal,” said the president of the company which provides solar panel systems and mobility services.
Santos said that because the Spanish market was larger than the Portuguese market it provided “some good opportunities” for players such as SunEnergy.
“We’ve already got people studying the market to pinpoint such opportunities”, he said.
SunEnergy had a good year in 2021, with growth of 60% in what were its “best ever results”, with a turnover of €8 million.
Maintaining its growth rate in recent years, the company installed some 22,000 solar panels in 2021 on a auto-consumption model, corresponding to 8 MW of installed power.
The company says its projects have enabled its clients to make an annual accumulated saving of €1,600,000 in addition to cutting CO2 emissions by 6,000 tonnes per year. The energy produced by these projects to a total of 12MWh is capable of powering 3,000 homes.
