Furniture makers face Russia losses

Furniture companies in Portugal are unable to receive payments from clients in Russia according to the Association of Portuguese Furniture and Allied Industries (Associação Portuguesa das Indústrias de Mobiliário e Afins (APIMA).

This is partly because transportation companies are unable or unwilling to deliver.
According to Gualter Morgado who heads the APIMA, the Russian market was “important for some companies in the sector with a lot of work despite not being in the top 10 exporting sectors to Russia.
He said that some companies which had tried to transport their products were turned down by expediters which refused to enter Russian territory and deliver them to clients, these items being held in warehouses.
