The Portuguese private hospital group CUF has gone from losses of €23.8M in 2020 to a profit of €34.7 million in 2021.

The result also represented a “€5.7 million increase on 2019” according to the company.
“2021 was a period of recovery for the CUF group’s assistance activity and in its financial indicators”, adds the company, emphasising “consultations, ER, and operations have grown between 15.8% and 26.7% in 2020, a year whose activity was impacted strongly by the Covid-19 pandemic”.
According to the group “the 2021 results were achieved within a context of considerable pressure on various cost items, from staff costs to supply and outsourced service costs, particularly with the growing inflation felt from the 2nd half.”
CUF indicated that this “was only possible because it had accelerated digitalisation and administrative procedures, as well as through a significant effort to contain structural costs”.
Therefore, in 2021, the CUF Group has a consolidated net result of €34.7 million which represents a turn-around from the net negative result of €23.8 million in 2020. Compared to 2019, there was an increase of profits of €5.7 million.
