Maersk opens hub in Porto
Maersk has opened a new technology hub in Porto eight months after purchasing the Portuguese startup HUUB.
The Danish logistics company’s hub opened with 50 staff, a number which will be trebled within a year. The amount of investment was not divulged.
“We are extremely proud to see a company like Maersk choose our city and our country to set up a technology hub, and even more so when the acquisition of HUUB was the driving force to do so. We’ve always felt a special talent in this city and its academic institutions. We now have the responsibility to attract and retain this talent for the our major goals ahead”, says Tiago Paiva ex-CEO of HUUB who is now heading one of Maersk’s commerce products, in a communiqué.
The new hub is in Porto Office Park in the Boavista area of the city. The office occupies one floor with 850 square metres. The space is designed to be compatible with the best technological practices and is of a hybrid set up.
