Capgemini opens R&D lab in Gaia

Gapgemini, the technology outsourcing consultancy has strengthened its presence in Portugal by opening its Mobility Lab in Gaia.

The research and development lab will focus on cutting-edge technologies for sustainable and intelligent mobility technologies which will permit more than 700 new jobs to be created.
In a communiqué sent to the newspaper Negócios, the company revealed that the lab which was inaugurated on Tuesday (5 July) would start with a team of over 350 employees and with a target of 700 staff by 2025.
The company, which is a world leader in the development of engineering and technology partnerships with other companies, is recruiting via its subsidiary brand Capgemini Engineering for around 200 talented professionals for the new Capgemini Portugal centre which has a “vast portfolio of benchmark clients” from the automotive sector such as BMW, Renault, Continental, Panasonic Automotive, and Bosch.
“This new centre reinforces Capgemini Portugal’s commitment by developing the skill sets of its Portuguese team in the software area for the automotive industry”, says Bruno Coelho, member of the executive committee and head of R&D at Capgemini Engineering.
“Our goal is to “help transform Portugal into a world reference centre in the area of cutting-edge solutions for safe autonomous driving and sustainable transport”.
