Stellantis to produce Fiat Doblò

The commercial LGV manufacturer Stellantis Mangulade of Viseu is to produce the fourth model of the Fiat Doblò.

From October, the Viseu-based automotive company will produce four makes: Fiat, Citroen, Peugeot and Opel.
The announcement was made on Thursday by the company’s Chairman, Carlos Tavares who said: “This fourth model creates even more efficiency and competitiveness at the factory” at the ceremony that marked the 60th anniversary of the production plant and which included a visit from the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.
The Fiat Doblò will join the other three car models that are produced at plant in Mangulade – the Citroen Berlingo, Peugeot Partner and Opel Combo. In Portugal they are the three most sold light commercial vehicles in the sector.
The start of production on the Fiat model in Portugal is only a possibility because since the start of 2021 Fiat belongs to the Stellantis alliance, which is an umbrella group that that has the car groups Peugeot-Citroen and Fiat Chrysler.
At the end of the commemorations, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa decorated António Loureiro Marques, one of the longest-serving workers at Stellantis Mangualde.
Stellantis Mangulade will also produce solar panels from the third quarter in a project involving a €3.2 million investment with Prosolia Energy. The project involves 6,363 photovoltaic panels that will cover an area the size of six football pitches with an installed power of 3,436 MWp, enough to power 320 houses for a year.
