The Portuguese luggage storage start-up Luggit is to expand its services to eight European cities, starting with Barcelona and Prague.

Offering driver and luggage safe facilities, the start-up which has been in Lisbon and Porto since 2019, invested last year in providing the services in Vienna.
The cofounder and CEO of Luggit, Ricardo Figueiredo, says that Prague is attractive for three main reasons: “It is of a similar size to Lisbon and Porto, which allows us to optimise our operations taking into account the know-how that we’re bringing from Portugal.
At the same time, its geographical closeness to Vienna is interesting in terms of future business. Prague also has all-year-round tourism. This is vital for us to be able to keep our business balanced and overcome seasonality, which is important for any tourism-based business”, he says.
As to Barcelona, Ricardo Figueiredo says that Barcelona, in addition to being a major tourism destination, is also a recognised city for entrepreneurs, with visitor numbers quickly returning to pre-pandemic levels.
“Before the pandemic, it received almost 12 million tourists and 33 million hotel and accommodation nights. Many of these travellers and hotel managers will have their lives made easier thanks to our baggage delivery and collection service before check-in or after check out”, says the CEO.
The luggage keepers start-up aims to expand its operations to eight European cities over the next two years but has not revealed where.
There are currently around 200 tourism companies that use Luggit’s software, most of them accommodation management companies which have over 1,500 apartments, including names such as Feels Like Home, Lovely Stay, GuestReady, Whome, Bnbird, Stay Unique and Time Cooler.
