Investment from Portugal’s Golden Visa programme rose 33% in the first half of 2022 compared to H1 in 2021.

According to the news agency Lusa and based on statistics from SEF, investment netted from the Authorisation of Residency for Investment programme (ARI) stood at €237.6 million in H1 2021, but rose to €316.2 million in H1 2022.
In June, investment from Golden Visas stood at €77.9 million, an increase of 44% on May (€53.8 million) which in turn more than doubled on the €36.4 million registered for the same month in 2021.
For the half year 649 ARI were issued. (94 in January, 94 in February, 73 in March, 121 in April, 112 in May and 155 in June)
Total investment in property in June stood at €62.2 million of which €23.9 million was invested in urban renovation but only €15.6 million was from capital transfers.
In June 30 Golden Visas were issued to Chinese citizens, 30 from US citizens, 14 from Turkish citizens, 11 from Indians and 10 from Brazilians.
