Mergers and acquisitions in Portugal for the first six months of the year involving Portuguese companies tumbled 24% to 249 like-for-like on 2021.

The value of these mergers and acquisitions fell 61% to €5.8Bn. Nevertheless, only half of these operations (46%) published the amounts involved.
This is according to the latest report from Transactional Track Record (TTR) published on Tuesday and made in collaboration with Intralinks.
According to its statistics and in terms of sectors, real estate was the most active between January and July 2022 with 53 transactions. This was followed by the Internet, software and IT services, with 33 operations.
In terms of the cross-border countries involved in mergers and acquisitions with Portuguese companies , Spain topped the list of investments with 24 transactions. France came in second place with 16 operations.
Portuguese companies chose Spain and Germany as their main investment destinations, with 10 and six transactions respectively.
The report also highlights that US companies reduced their acquisitions in the Portuguese market between January and July 2022 by 53%.
