Top-end daily guest house rates hit €300

The daily charges for luxury guest houses or Local Accommodation hit a record of €300 per day in July in Porto and Lisbon.

In Lisbon this price was seen in the downtown Baixa where a night in top-class accommodation could cost €356. In Porto’s riverside Ribeira area a night could set back holidaymakers €327.
The daily average for the month in guest houses (AL) in Lisbon was €121 and €108 in Porto according to data collected by Confidencial Imobiliário from the SIR-Local Accommodation data base.
The figures have been published as news emerged this week that Porto City Council is to present a proposal to block all new registrations for guest houses under the Local Accommodation scheme for a period of six months.
