Amgen invests €100 million in Portugal

US Biopharmaceutical company Amgen is to invest €100 million in a hub in Portugal that will eventually create 300 new job posts.

The Amgen Capability Center Portugal (ACCP) has already hired 170 employees in its first year of activity, and the goal is to continue to increase its employee base to 300 people in Portugal over the next two-three years.
The employees will support the overall business of the pharma company at its high skill and innovation centre based in Lisbon that will represent an estimated investment in Portugal of €100 million over five years.
“The Amgen Capability Centre Portugal represents an investment and commitment in the country from Amgen after Lisbon was selected and not other European cities to open our skills and innovation centre in Europe.
“At the end of last year we were considered a Project of Strategic Interest for the Lisbon economy by the IEPF. (Institute of Employment and Professional Training)

Amgen has a presence in approximately 100 countries and regions worldwide. The company focuses six therapeutic areas: cardiovascular disease, oncology, bone health, neuroscience, nephrology and inflammation with medicines that typically address for which there are limited treatment options, or they are medicines that provide a viable option to what is otherwise available.
