Ex-finance minister joins Morgan Stanley

The ex-finance minister, Maria Luís Albuquerque has been appointed to the European subsidiary of Morgan Stanley.

The economist made the announcement via LinkedIn that she had joined the supervisory and audit commissions, risk and appointments board at Morgan Stanley Europe.
Maria Luís Albuquerque was the finance minster for the centre-right PSD government of Pedro Passos Coelho and sits on the party’s board.
Her functions on the financial institution’s board cover Morgan Stanley Europe Holding SE – MSEHSE, Morgan Stanley Europe SE – MSESE and Morgan Stanley Bank AG – MSBAG, all three based in Frankfurt.
Maria Luís Albuquerque is also on the strategy advisory board at the Universidade Lusíada de Lisboa, on Indeg-ISCTE (Consultative Board) and the private equity company Horizon (operational team)
In 2021 the former minister left the Arrow Group – which has Whitestar in Portugal which manages default loans and property assets – and returned to the Portuguese Treasury and Debt Management Agency (IGCP) which she had left in 2011.
